Frozen Warlock!!!!  Gaaaaah!

a very good game...but what is missing is the limit of items that the character can carry

There is no limit, go nuts!

Just finished my first run.  I'm thinking of moving to a battle mat so I can use miniatures and dry-erase markers :D

My game ended with the Starved Goblin.  I exceeded the turn limit and 'succumbed to the goblin curse' which I assumed means my character turned into a goblin?  At least that's the way I read it.  Was this accurate?

Hi! Thanks for playing :)

Yes, the goblin curse is a thing in the Mörk Borg TTRPG (which The Black City is based on). It basically means that anybody who is hurt by a goblin is doomed to turn into one in a matter of days. There is obviously no cure.

Good idea about the battle mat! Let me know how it goes!

That's cool!  I haven't played Mork Borg yet.  I really should get a copy.

I enjoyed this one, though having now twice died to "Open Sewer" without any means of dealing with it ever appearing it did have a bit of a memey "Rocks Fall Everyone Died" experience, which especially hurt on my second run because it was going so well.

Ever play the PC Text Adventure Game Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?  You die from a falling brick the moment you leave your house.

Just played my first game, and pretty much my first solo city crawler. It was pretty great, and brutal. It went more or less like this:
Fought off a frozen warlock (barely) on my second tile, after that I found a hidden passage at what appeared to be a dead end. There stood a crazy soothsayer, but as I had already lots (4) scrolls on me I refused to barter. He apparently took offense and somehow managed to summon a windborne wraith which I managed to beat to death with a stake somehow. Feeling pretty good about myself I stumbled upon a crazed warmth seeking mob and got pretty much eaten alive by them. Mork borg style 10/10.

Rules are nicely and clearly written, and it's coming from someone who never played solo games like this before. I also doodled in ps some of the stuff that happened while all this was going on which I found immersive and fun as hell :D

Nice doodling!
